Can You Believe This Is Georgia? – Providence Canyon State Park

When I show people photos of this canyon they can’t believe it’s in southern Georgia. It looks like Utah, but of course on a much smaller scale. Here are the main points and info you need:
- Spectacular erosion-formed canyons with vibrant, swirling hues in Georgia’s Providence Canyon State Park.
- Created by poor farming practices in the 1800s.
- Dubbed Georgia’s ‘Little Grand Canyon,’ it offers stunning panoramas and unique geological formations.
- The canyon walls display a mesmerizing array of colors, ranging from pink and orange to red.
- Hiking trails lead visitors through a diverse ecosystem, showcasing the area’s flora and fauna. There are 1003 acres to explore!
- Despite being shaped by human-induced erosion, Providence Canyon offers a captivating outdoor experience.
- There are seven rusted vehicles from the 50s left behind by the owners of the old homestead that used to be on this site.
- The entrance fee into this state park is $5 per car. Or you can buy an annual Georgia State Park Pass for $50 if you’re staying for a while or are a local.
- 6 backcountry campsites.
- Dogs are allowed on leash.
