Family-Friendly Things To Do Around Las Vegas, Nevada

Most people thinking of nightlife, gambling and shows when they think of Las Vegas. But there is also a lot to do in and around town that doesn’t involve those things. Here are just a few of our favorites:
THE HIGH ROLLER – A ferris wheel experience, but it’s a round globe that is large enough to roam around in. Behind the LINQ on the strip.
DEATH VALLEY NATIONAL PARK – About 2 hours West of Las Vegas, this National Park is not only the largest in the contiguous US, but also has the lowest point in the US plus the hottest place ever recorded in the world! Favorite views are Painter’s Palette, Badwater Basin, Devil’s Golf Course, and the Sailing Stones.
RED ROCK CANYON – A state park, located 28 mins. outside of Las Vegas, has plenty of trails, rock-climbing opportunities, and hieroglyphs.
THE SPHERE EXPERIENCE – You can either go to a concert here or choose a 90-minute Sphere experience, which involves a AI robots, a 360 movie, and holographic art.
THE STRAT OBSERVATION DECK AND AMUSEMENT RIDES – Offers amazing views of the whole city, especially at night. There are also some very scary rides – scary because you are so high up!
VALLEY OF FIRE – This State Park is a public recreation and nature preservation area covering nearly 46,000 acres, about 30 mins. north of Las Vegas. It has a variety of hiking trails, a small slot canyon, the “fire wave” colorful rock formation, and many great vistas and photo opportunities.
BELLAGIO FOUNTAIN – Every 30 minutes during the day, and every 15 minutes in the evening, there is about a FREE 5-minute light and fountain show in front of the Bellagio.
LAKE MEAD – A couple hours’ drive from Las Vegas, Lake Mead offers all types of water sports.
HOOVER DAM – As tall as a 60-story building, Hoover Dam is an impressive sight to see. It is a 40-minute drive from Las Vegas.
SKYWALK AT GRAND CANYON WEST – This is about a 3-hour drive from Las Vegas, but is a fun day trip. It is on the land of the Hualapai Tribe, and not part of the National Park. There is a skywalk, a clear walk/bridge that juts out over the canyon. You can also zipline, visit an old western town, take a raft excursion, or ride a helicopter over the canyon. You can make the drive and visit on your own, or you can take a tour.
THE ATLANTIS SHOW – At the top of every hour there is a FREE 15-minute show about Atlantis with animatronics, music and pyrotechnics. This is at the Shops at Caesars Forum.
LUXURY HELICOPTER EXPERIENCE – Combine several of the views above by indulging in a helicopter tour that saves time and gives you soaring, once-in-a-lifetime views. This Viator Tour covers the best highlights.
