Iron Mountain Hot Springs – Glenwood Springs, CO

While in Glenwood Springs, CO we stayed at an RV/Campground called Glenwood Canyon Resort. It was very picturesque next to the Colorado River. A white-water rafting outfit starts their rafting trips there, so we watched people start out their excursions there.
Our main reason for stopping here was to experience the hot springs. We hadn’t gotten a reservation in time to hike to Hanging Lake, but we did get to enjoy some hot spring pools.
We booked a standard 3-hr session at Iron Mountain Hot Springs, nestled along the Colorado River. They have 17 mineral pools filled with spring water, each marked with the temperature. They were between 99 and 108 degrees, although we only managed up to 105. A couple had infinity edges, and one or two had little waterfalls. My favorite one had loose pebbles on the bottom.
There is a cafe where you can buy food or beverages (including alcohol), which have to stay in the designated cafe area. There are also plenty of water coolers throughout the property, encouraging you to stay hydrated.
We felt so relaxed soaking in those pools, overlooking the river and a beautiful red and green mountain beyond. Soft spa music played via hidden speakers. While we were there we also got to see the Rocky Mountaineer train pull into the station. We’ll have to try that some day when not traveling with our dog.
