Gibbs Gardens – Largest Japanese Garden Near Atlanta

Did you know that the largest Japanese garden in the US is just an hour outside of Atlanta, Georgia? It is inside of Gibbs Gardens, in Ball Ground, GA. The gardens comprise 300+ acres, and is on a private estate available to be viewed by the public from February to December.
Jim Gibbs had a dream of creating a world class garden, and over the years carefully crafted this award-winning masterpiece. He and his family still live in the manor on the estate, so although you can view its garden, you cannot enter the manor. If you visit please be respectful for their privacy.
Gibbs Gardens is known for its seasonal displays of flowers, its fall foliage, a waterlily garden, a rose garden, and the Japanese garden. There are events and workshops throughout the year, including garden tours, photography classes, and plant sales. ADMISSION: Visitors can pay an admission fee of $25 for adults, $18 for seniors, $10 for children 3-17.
ACCESSIBILITY: The gardens are wheelchair accessible, with paved pathways that make it easy for visitors of all ages and abilities to explore the grounds.
PHOTOGRAPHY is allowed for personal use, but commercial photography , including wedding or senior photo shoots, require permission. No drones may be used.
NOT ALLOWED: No outside chairs. No costumes of any kind. No outside food (but can picnic by parking area). No pets other than service animals. No plein air painting. No types of smoking. No firearms. No climbing any trees or sculptures. See their website for a complete updated list.
UBER AND LYFT: Beware that it is nearly impossible to get an Uber or Lyft for pick-up at Gibbs Gardens, as there are no drivers in the area.
